Songs used in Lessons

Hi Everyone

On this page, I will write up the lyrics to the songs we used in the lesson. Bear in mind that not all songs will be posted here due to copyright laws.

Week 1 - 9/11/11

Bugs and Beetles
Author - Unknown
Bugs and beetles in my garden,
Oh what horror oh what dread.
5 hungry beetles in my cabbages,
Soon my cabbages will be dead.
So I go into my garden (soft voice),
Creeping softly, tiptoe tread (soft voice).
I sneak up behind those beetles (soft voice),
And I hit one on the head (crescendo, gradually getting louder with an accent on head).
Ooch! Ouch! Is what he said,
I hit a little beetle on the head.

Repeat with 4, 3, 2, and 1 beetle.

The Incy Winsy Spider
Nursery Rhyme
The Insy Winsy spider climbed up the water spout,
Down came the rain and washed the spider out.
Up came the sun and dried up all the rain,
And the Incy Winsy spider climbed up the spout again.

The song used in the lesson was an a capella song by InsideOut called Eensie Weensie Spider.

Acka backa soda cracka, acka backa boo
Acka backa soda cracka, in goes YOU!

My original idea was to introduce one singer at a time to explore how the timbre of music can change with different voice layers. However, to involve everyone I varied the last line to 'in' or 'out' and jump in or out at the same time.
